Kimmy in LA

My little sister, Kimmy, visited recently. She came to LA to go to a writer's workshop and hang out with me, Kelly, Snoops, and Athena (Beth and Steve were out of town so we had Athena) for a few days. Because she has been here numerous times we've already done most of the touristy stuff we're interested in doing; therefore, we did a lot of eating and shopping. Because Kimmy is now vegetarian I had to get creative about where we ate. We found that Silverlake has quite a few excellent options. We made it to shop on Melrose and went to the new Americana in Glendale and we went to see Batman Begins (again, that's right, again and loved it more the second time). Kimmy had never been to Universal Studios so we spent an afternoon there - long lines but still a good time. According to Kimmy, the writer's workshop was definitely worthwhile and eye opening. She got her first taste of Hollywood networking in action - not her favorite thing. Here are some of the best photos from the visit (please note the plethera of cakes we sampled):

coconut lemon cake at The Alcove in Los Feliz (we agree this was the best cake we ate)

me with my matching vegan wrap at The Alcove

attracting attention downtown at 7th and Fig

happy Kimmy with beans and rice at Flore Vegan Restaurant in Silverlake

Beard Pappa's Cream Puffs at the Americana (say what?)

It's funny, based on the photos it looks like all you did was eat.
