Nick Cave

Kelly and I went to see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Hollywood Bowl last Wednesday night. Nick Cave is one of Kelly's most favorite artists. I have grown to like him after hearing his songs played so frequently in the car. They played a few songs I was familiar with but mostly it was newer stuff that I hadn't heard. The show was quite loud and Nick Cave was uber-evangelistic in a sort of beat poet meets punk meets preacher sort of way. All in all, very entertaining and we even got to witness an unruly drunk man having an altercation with security. I enjoyed it and Kelly seemed pleased (although it was a bit shorter than expected - the curfew for the show to end was 11 pm - boring). I also enjoyed not rushing to get over there for the very beginning of the show. This meant we missed Cat Power and Spiritualized but we got to enjoy a lovely dinner at Hugo's in WeHo - my favorite place to get the beet/quineau salad. Good times.

Poor little drunk man. He just wants things in life to be free, like the seats he stole, and the show he put on - fighting 4 security guards like a 13 year old boy - not a 37 year old man. I think he wants to be drunk too.
